"It felt like it was uphill the whole time," explains one trail runner as she catches her breath after crossing the finish line. All participants agree: the Gondwana Moonraker Ridge Trail Run through the African bush savannah at the foot of the Auas Mountains east of Windhoek is a special challenge.
A total of about 140 runners took part in the premiere of this trail run. It took place on Saturday in the 20 km² nature reserve of the Moonraker farm on the road to the Hosea Kutako International Airport, just south of the Kappsfarm police station. The event was organised by the Gondwana Collection Namibia group of companies and the Moonraker Outdoor Adventure Restcamp.

The distances of 20 km, 10 km and 5 km were available. On four-wheel drive tracks and single tracks, even cross-country, the routes led through typical African bush landscape with hills, valleys and riverbeds.
Prizes were awarded to the top three runners in the 20km and 10km races (see event website). There was a raffle for participants of the 5 km race. Gondwana and its partners had donated vouchers worth a total of 72,000 Namibia dollars.
A mobile outdoor studio of the radio station, NOVA 103.5, a band and the farm atmosphere of the Moonraker Adventure Camp made the trail run an event for family and friends of the runners (see report on the website of the Gondwana Collection). The Gondwana Moonraker Ridge Trail Run is to become an annual event from now on.
