Quick and easy visa applications for Namibia

August 06, 2025

Since April 2024, tourists can obtain their visa on arrival at the border posts of Ariamsvlei, Noordoewer, Oranjemund, Oshikango and Mohembo. Previously tourists could only obtain visa on arrival at the Hosea Kutako International Airport, the Walvis Bay airport and the border posts of Buitepos (Transkalahari) east of Gobabis to Botswana, Impalila Island, Ngoma and Katima Mulilo.

“The increasing numbers of tourists visiting Namibia has prompted us to issue visa on arrival at more border posts” the Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Albert Kawana said.

Tourists pay their visa fee via speed point with their bank cards to eradicate handling of cash money.

Minister Kawana had more good news during the launch of the extended ”visa-on-arrival” project. “Tourists from countries where Namibia has no diplomatic representation need not apply in advance for a visa anymore,” Kawana said. They can now obtain their visa on arrival.

In addition, the Namibian  government has exempted over sixty countries from visa requirements.

“I am also pleased to announce that that the border post Oshikango-Santa Clara will soon operate on a 24/hour basis”, Kawana said. This entry point is situated at the border between Namibia and Angola and is one of the busiest border posts.

The government introduced online visa applications for tourists in September 2023.
