Namibia on a successful tour in Europe

The Namibia Roadshow of the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) with stops in Germany, the Netherlands and England was very well received by the tour operators there. "The interest was huge," Acting Area Manager Europe & Manager Marketing and PR Europe of the NTB, Matthias Lemcke, tells NamibiaFocus. "We were slightly overbooked at all four stops."

The four stops were Munich with 26 visitors, Frankfurt with 27, Breukelen (near Utrecht) with 32 and London with 20. So there were 105 travel professionals in total. "All representatives of major tour operator brands that offer southern Africa," Lemcke is pleased to say. "And specialist product managers from Africa."

At the roadshow events, NTB and tourism companies from Namibia presented sights, adventure offers, and accommodation and travel opportunities in the land of endless horizons. The dinner that followed provided an opportunity for networking.

The locations certainly contributed to the success of the roadshow. Among them were the Skyline Studios of Radio Frankfurt on the 27th floor with roof terrace (see post on LinkedIn). "And in Breukelen we were in the TV studios of a barbecue cooking show," says Matthias Lemcke. "There we had a spectacular barbecue evening with the barbecue chef Harm Jan Bloem, who is well-known in Holland, a Namibian braai, so to speak, that the Dutch were still talking about days later." In both cases, consumers were also reached through the media.

Daily bus transfers attract interest

Among the Namibian tourism companies was Gondwana Collection Namibia. "We met long-time partners again," says Group Sales Manager Gerhard Swart. "That was important, also because of some new developments during and after the Corona period." In addition, of course, new contacts were made.

Of Gondwana's new offers, the daily bus connections between Namibia's main sights met with great interest. Gondwana had launched the "Go2 Travellers Transfers" at the beginning of June (see report on Gondwana's website). The fact that Okapuka Safari Lodge is joining Gondwana (see report on the Gondwana website) was also well received.
