25-04-01 arrival counters HKIA 24-11-29 web 960 x 640 Not ONE comment on the WhatsApp groups of Namibia's travel industry. Tour operators, car hire companies and tour guides also did not report any major problems for their guests when directly contacted by Namibian.org. The 'Visa on Arrival', new for many Namibia holidaymakers, seems to have got off to a smooth start. It is valid from today. And no, this is not an April Fool's joke ;)) Only here and there did the issuing at the immigration counter take a little longer, one tourism company said. The regulations had been the subject of discussion in the travel industry for months. There have also been several meetings between tourism associations, the investment agency NIPDB and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security (MHAISS). Until last week, MHAISS was still making changes. Many travel companies and holidaymakers in Namibia in particular were unsettled. But the worries proved to be unfounded, at least on the first day. E-visa shortens waiting time at the counter The 'Visa on Arrival' can be obtained directly at the immigration counter. The application form is available on the plane or at the border post. In addition to a valid passport, you will need booking confirmations, health insurance and a credit card (for details see special page on the Gondwana Collection Namibia website [https://gondwana-collection.com/visa-namibia-information]). However, it is advisable to apply for the 'Visa on Arrival' online in advance – on the e-service website of the immigration authorities [https://eservices.mhaiss.gov.na/visaonarrival]. This should significantly shorten the processing time at the counter. Gondwana's special page [https://gondwana-collection.com/visa-namibia-information] also offers good step-by-step assistance for this. Or you can ask for a verbal & visual introduction. The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) has produced a short YouTube video [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/5LXjIcjuKiQ] with the German-Namibian musician and presenter Eric ‘Ees’ Sell. The visa on arrival for citizens from non-African countries costs 1,600 Namibia Dollar (currently a good 80 euros; amount at the current exchange rate [https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1600&From=ZAR&To=EUR], 1 N$ = 1 rand). Children between the ages of 6 and 11 pay half, children under the age of 6 are free of charge. According to the Ministry of the Interior, more than 12,500 e-'Visas on Arrival' had already been issued by yesterday. This means revenue of around 19 million Namibia Dollar (currently more than 95,000 euros; amount at the current exchange rate [https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1900000&From=ZAR&To=EUR]).
