Eurowings Discover will not cancel flights to Namibia

Holidaymakers who want to fly with Eurowings Discover to the land of unlimited horizons in the (European) winter can breathe a sigh of relief: flights to Windhoek are not affected by the announced flight cancellations. This was confirmed by the press department of the holiday airline this afternoon when asked by NamibiaFocus.

On Friday afternoon, various media had reported that Eurowings Discover would take over four long-haul routes from parent company Lufthansa. The reason: Lufthansa is getting a new type of aircraft. Pilots are not available for flight operations due to retraining.

Therefore, Eurowings Discover has to fill that gap. However, this forces the airline to cancel some of its own flights. Destinations in the Caribbean are mainly affected, according to a report by FrankfurtFlyer.de.

Flight connections Frankfurt - Windhoek

The press department of Eurowings Discover confirmed today that the flights from Frankfurt to Windhoek will take place as planned in winter. According to the statement, there will be ten flights per week until mid-November. Three of them will continue to VicFalls after a stopover.

From 15 November, the weekly frequency will be reduced to seven as planned at the end of the peak travel season to Namibia. In addition, Eurowings Discover will change the final destination of three of the flights: instead of VicFalls in Zimbabwe, it will then be Mbombela at Kruger National Park in South Africa.

The direct flights to Kruger Park are also planned for the coming summer flight schedule. According to Eurowings Discover, it has not yet been decided whether VicFalls will also be served again.
