Namibia flights operated by Discover Airlines [https://www.discover-airlines.com/lhg/de/de/dest/cy/windhoek] are threatened by a strike for two days longer than first announced. It was actually supposed to end at midnight tonight. However, the pilots' union 'Vereinigung Cockpit' (VC) has extended it until Sunday.

According to the flight schedule, two flights from Frankfurt to Windhoek are planned for tomorrow evening (return flights to Frankfurt on Sunday evening) and one on Sunday evening (return flight on Monday). One flight is scheduled for tonight (return flight tomorrow).

Namibia travellers who are affected by this can check the status of their flight on the Lufthansa Group website. So far, flight operations on the Frankfurt - Windhoek route have apparently proceeded without any major disruptions.

The overall impact of the industrial action was also limited. According to Discover, they only had to cancel a few of their flights. Six on Tuesday and eight on Wednesday. They put the total number of flights from Tuesday to Friday at 270.

By extending its call for strike action until Sunday, the VC union wants to increase the pressure on the holiday airline. The cabin crew union 'Ufo' is apparently ending its strike today, Friday, as announced.

VC and Ufo are each seeking to negotiate their own collective agreements for pilots and cabin crew. According to their own statements, they were close to reaching an agreement. However, Discover then concluded a collective agreement with the rival service industry union Ver.di.
