Namibian holidaymakers were the first Discover Airlines passengers to fly in an Airbus A330 with the new livery and logo. They boarded the aircraft in Frankfurt on Friday evening and disembarked at Hosea Kutako International Airport near Windhoek on Saturday morning.
After its maiden flight, the freshly painted Airbus was greeted by the airport fire brigade with fountains of water. "Today we welcomed the new queen of Discover Airlines D-AIKK into Windhoek!" said Renette Scholtz, Lufthansa Group Account Manager Namibia, with joy on the LinkedIn portal.
"D-AIKK is the very first freshly painted A330, with more to follow in 2024. The cabin interior has been partially customised and will be fully converted to the new design in the near future." And Scholtz added: "From 1 December 2023, our crew will be wearing their new uniforms."
Namibia is one of the most important long-haul destinations and partner countries of the still young airline, which officially operated under the name Eurowings Discover until 5 September. The country of endless horizons contributed significantly to its success with its appeal. Discover Airlines currently flies directly from Frankfurt to Windhoek ten times a week.
